My associate raises a point that many of you may find important, or may not. Those of us within Asteri Rising all have such questions that we would like to raise, all of them relevant or not relevant to different people. We seek other people of similar minds, not those that believe the exact same things as we do, but those that for reasons known perhaps only to themselves, or to others, seek a different route. The human body is, let us admit, badly designed. Generations have passed, we have changed. Some of it was natural, most of it was enforced by ourselves. Imagine the endless ages past, when we were ten times less intelligent, even unable to interface with technology on a daily basis as we do now. Evolution has been useful to us, but nature's hand is slow and often-times, unhelpful. Genetic imperfections, ranging from the mildly irritating to the severely crippling still exist. Outside influences can still harm us, whether they be various illegal boosters or simple deadly viral contagions.
When you finally cut away all the other misleading facts, the human body, as useful as it is to us, will inevitably die. It is badly designed, in many ways. In some, it is well beyond our capabilities, but in others, we have had to personally take measures and modify ourselves in many ways. Each of these has it's own allure. Genetic modifcation is one such way, allowing us to retain our human form, yet still leaving us with the possibility of death. Even with the modern cloning facilities, there is the chance you will die, irreversibly. So we come to the ideal of transcendance.
A way for humans to strip away the inevitability of death and the restrictive qualities of our bodies, in whatever way possible. Each of us has different ideals, different paths that they believe best. Many of us can be considered possessed, even driven. Some other, less helpful names come to mind. We offer places for those willing to discuss such things and take measures to bring transcendance within our grasp. Some may choose the path of genetic modification. Others may choose to entirely remove the human body from the equasion and simply replace it with a functionally immortal machine. Whatever that path, we seek to find a way to make it possible.
As an addendum, I personally disagree with my colleagues views on the removal of external stimuli, as this would lead to unfavorable outcomes when certain things occur. Such as, say, a payload of explosive ordinance is guided towards you. It certainly wouldn't help if you were cut off from this information.
((Shameless self-promotion and overly long replies ahoy!)) Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able, and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither |
